Success Stories
Bedford Hospice House, Inc.
In 2005, a board of directors whose goal was to build a hospice house in western Virginia contacted The Curtis Group about a feasibility study. At that point, Bedford Hospice House, Inc. had no staff or even an architectural rendering of the facility.
Based on the results of our study and following our recommendations, the board launched a $1.6 million capital campaign in 2006. The campaign soon began securing major gifts from foundations and individuals, as well as state and local government. Two part-time employees were hired to staff a temporary office in the public library, and the local hospital donated a 2.5-acre site for the hospice house.
By fall 2009, Bedford Hospice House, Inc. had reached its campaign goal and was on track to break ground in early 2010.
