Anniston Star quotes Keith Curtis

In an article on the United Way of East Central Alabama’s 2009-2010 Annual Fundraising Kickoff, The Anniston Star recently looked to Keith for commentary on campaign strategy in the current economic environment. The article highlighted the fact that organization’s fundraising campaign this year will be slightly different from previous efforts in that a specific monetary goal has not been set, due to the challenging economy. The newspaper called on Keith to comment on this trend:

Keith Curtis, president of Virginia-based fundraising consulting firm The Curtis Group, said although he had not heard of other nonprofit organizations operating without public fundraising goals, many are trying different campaign strategies as a result of the economic climate.

“Some groups are setting a range of goals with a minimum amount that they need to get to,” Curtis said. “Other groups are staging their campaigns; they may do one phase now to meet an immediate need, and as the economy starts to improve, they’ll do another phase.”
