Wendy McGrady, vice president, is a seasoned and successful development professional with more than 20 years of development and marketing experience. In addition to her work advising our clients, Wendy oversees campaign planning studies and campaign management, conducts strategic planning sessions, board retreats, and manages executive searches.  Her experience includes donor, volunteer, and leadership cultivation, major gift solicitation strategy, grant writing, and special event production. Her background in marketing provides our clients with unique insight into brand enhancement, public relations, and advertising. She is a frequent speaker on enhancing nonprofit development capacity and other fundraising issues.

Before joining The Curtis Group, Wendy was director of development for Tidewater Community College in southeastern Virginia. There she created a comprehensive development program and planned, launched, and implemented a capital campaign that raised over $7 million in just three years.

Serving her community has always been important to Wendy, as proven by her history of membership on many nonprofit boards. She is a member of the Giving USA Editorial Review Board, a past president of the Hampton Roads chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and co-chaired the 2011 Virginia Fundraising Institute.  Wendy has also served on the alumni board of Hollins University, the board of The Ballentine, and as vestryperson and senior warden at Christ and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Hollins University and a graduate of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce’s Lead Hampton Roads.  Wendy was selected by Inside Business in 2001 as a Top Forty Under 40 honoree, and in 2006 as a recipient of the Women in Business Achievement Award.
